Directory Listings
There are several directories that you can add your links to which will give you limited exposure.  One of the easiest and most reasonably priced linking websites is Strongest Links www.strongestlinks.com and offers a free 30-day trial period with full functionality. 

Do a search on particular keywords to locate potential linking partners, format a letter requesting a link and track the responses to your requests.  This is perhaps the strongest method of developing links but the most time consuming.

Strongest Links also provides a good list of forums where you can join, post responses, and engage in forum discussions.  Why would you want to do this?  These sites allow you to put one link back to your site in the signature of your posts.  You will, want to make your posting to the forum meaningful or you run the risk of being flamed when it becomes obvious that you are just using the forum to create a link back to your site.

Strongest Links gives you a source for advertising like newsletters lists that might be a focus for your online advertising campaigns.  Of course, It is best if you have a specific product or special to offer that leads the responder to a landing or sales page.

 For other directories, use a Google search where you list your industry and the word directory.  You can then check out the search results.  For example, if you want to find directories related to meditation, place the words, meditation directory, in the search box at Google.  The search results are over 1,000,000 pages.  Not all million are unique or necessarily relevant. This is a free method of finding directories to list your website.  

Spend a lot of time and you’ll see your page rank increase and traffic begin to flow your direction.  But we all know that time is a precious commodity.  The effort you make to get your website listed on the Internet will give you back like results.
